About Bujinkan

The Bujinkan is an international organisation originating from Japan with teachers and students based all around the World, founded in 1974 by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi the current Soke (Grandmaster) of the Bujinkan Taijutsu Dojo.

Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi created Bujinkan from nine feudal-era schools dating back over 1000 years history (Gyokko Ryu, Koto Ryu, Togakure Ryu, Kukishinden Ryu, Takagi Yoshin Ryu, Shinden Fudo Ryu, Gikan Ryu, Kumogakure Ryu and Gyokushin Ryu. )

When Hatsumi received the Soke’s of nine separate schools, the Soke created the Bujinkan System to honour his Sensei by created the Syllabus Known as the “Ten Chi Jin”, where students learn the foundation skills of Bujinkan Taijutsu.

Syllabus

Ten Ryaku No Maki
Taihenjutsu: somersaults, breakfalls, leaping, climbing and evasion methods.
Kamae: core posture and movements.
Kihon Happo Gata: fundamental eight methods and angles.
Sanshin no Kata: body alignment drills.
Taihen Muto Dori: basic unarmed evasion lessons.
Hoken Juroppo: – fist and kick striking forms.

Chi Ryaku no Maki
Hajutsu: escapes from grabs, strikes, kicks and joint locks.
Torite Kihon Dori no Kata: Ground restraints.
Happo Keri Henka: kicking drills.
Gyaku Waza: applied wrist, arm and shoulder joint locks.
Nage Kata: throws and joint locks to throw an opponent.
Shime Waza: chokes and strangulation techniques.

Jin Ryaku no Maki
Suwari Gata seated forms.
Keri ni Taishite: kick counters.
Nage Kaeshi: throw counters.
Haibu Yori: attacks from behind.
Tata ni Taishite: strike counters.
Mutodori Gata : unarmed forms against an armed opponents.
Santo Tonko no Kata: forms for locks, evasion and blending with nature.
